About our Teachers

Mrs Lancaster – Kindergarten/Year 1 teacher
I was born & raised in Newcastle, and I moved here in 1993 and after 3 years at Tomerong Public School was led to join the staff of Jervis Bay Christian Community School. I have taught at many schools throughout the State, but here at JBCCS, I believe there is something really special. Having God as the centre for all of us makes being at this school a wonderful experience, with all of us being able to care for each other. I also like to enjoy the local area, especially the beaches, with our two teenagers, which is a real bonus.

Why teaching? There is nothing as precious as the expression on a little one’s face when the penny drops and they ‘get it’. They all become ‘my children’ and I want nothing but the best for each and every one of them.

Carol Gough – Kindergarten/Year 1 teacher
Hi, my name is Carol Gough. I work as a part-time Kindy and Yr 1 teacher. I love the opportunity to work with the young children, helping them to establish themselves as individuals and teaching them about God’s wonderful world.

I live in Vincentia with my family and attend Jervis Bay Community Church. I enjoy walks on the beach, holidays and ‘eating out’ with my husband. My background is in office management. In 1988, I felt God was opening up new doors for my working career. In 2004 I obtained my Bachelor of Education from the National Institute for Christian Education. During the school holidays, I recently had the opportunity to teach English with the International Humanity Foundation in Bali. I hope to pursue more teaching abroad in the future.

Paul McLennan – Years 2&3 Teacher
Hi, my wife and I moved to the Bay & Basin from Sydney in 2004. I have been teaching at JBCCS ever since. It is great to work with a team of committed and creative people who enjoy educating children for life and sharing Jesus with them.

Before teaching I worked for a number of years in the horticultural industry as a landscape gardener. I began my teaching education in 1998 and have now been teaching for 7 years. As a primary school teacher, I really enjoy the variety of content that I get to explore with my students. From Maths to Science and Visual Arts, it’s all good!

I enjoy permaculture gardening, reading, bush walking and camping with my wife and sons.

Suzanne Bellette – Support Unit & Release Teacher
I have been associated with JBCCS since 2004. Currently, I provide release for each of our teachers. I teach creative arts and maths most of the time but I don’t mind what I teach – I just enjoy teaching.

Each morning I work one to one or with small groups of students who need help with reading/spelling and/or maths in our support unit.
This work is very rewarding. There’s nothing better than to be involved in the process of children learning that they can read and they can spell and they can do maths.

I really enjoy teaching art. This provides lots of opportunities to get to know children and to encourage them in something that they really can’t fail. As they try new things and their skills/abilities are discovered they get to know themselves and they learn to appreciate others. We have a lot of fun.

I love music and learn the piano. I enjoy sewing, knitting, patchwork/quilting, reading and puzzles. I am married with 3 kids – 2 daughters and a son. We have 2 dogs, 3 chooks and an aviary of birds.

I feel very privileged to be able to serve God as a teacher. Each child I teach becomes special to me and captures a little piece of my heart.

Mr Wainwright – Principal & Year 4-6 teacher
I have been teaching for more than 20 years and am enjoying teaching more than ever before. I like to provide my students with a vigorous academic challenge while enjoying a balance of the creative and practical arts as well as the fitness and sporting skills. Out of school I enjoy tennis, snorkeling, bushwalking, touch football, soccer and my veggie garden.
