RATIONALE

Computers have revolutionised the way society operates. The advent of the internet has increased information transfer to levels that are unprecedented. Schools need to reflect the importance of computers in their planning and curriculum. Students need to understand the role of ICT in their life and society. It is understood that the school is not the only source of this learning, nor the most up to date, yet it plays an integral role in developing students knowledge, skills, values and attitudes towards ICT.

Computers and—technology in general—are the creative response of humans to their environment. This is a God given trait that reflects the Christian belief that we are made in God’s image.  Most forms of technology from the humble knife to the complex world of ICT, can be either a creative or destructive force depending on the intent of the user. The positive and negative aspects of ICT are so much greater because of its ability to go beyond the physical reach of an idividual. That is, you can communicate with a person in realtime and steal their private information from the other side of the world.

Students who are informed by Christian values and have a good knowledge and skills base will be empowered to explore their giftings in this area and make positive contributioins to society.

AIMS

  • That staff and students be trained effectively in ICT according to their level and needs.
  • To enable students to understand the role of ICT in society.
  • To assist students to understand and apply biblical values and attitudes to the development and application of technology.
  • To enable students to explore and exercise their God-given creativity through ICT, becoming productive, innovative and resourceful.
