Jervis Bay Christian Community School is committed to the very best education possible for all our students.
Integral to a balanced and comprehensive education is the discovery and development of God given abilities of students. Together with parents and the student, the school assists in the identification of areas of talent/giftedness of students. We believe there is a role to play by parents, the student, and the school in the development of student abilities.
The school provides individual attention to the various areas of ability that each child displays. A range of measures are used by the classroom teacher to encourage and develop skills, knowledge, and techniques in academic and creative practical arts, and the physical education and sporting arena.
Some of these measures include:
• Use of the ‘matrix’ extension activities involving the seven intelligences;
• Participation in the UNSW Australasian competitions in: Computing; Mathematics; Science; Spelling; English; and Creative Writing;
• Participation in a number of Art Competitions and displays;
• Participation in Public Speaking competitions;
• Participation in the Christian Schools state wide Athletics, Swimming and Cross Country carnivals;
• Participation in the Shoalhaven Eisteddfod;
• School based Chess Competition;
• Gymnastics program presented by professional gymnastics company.
The school encourages students in extra-curricula programs that the school becomes aware of through
the school office, e.g.:
• Individual music tuition;
• Swimming club;
• Local athletics club;
• Sporting teams – netball, soccer, Australian Rules, cricket;
• Art lessons;
• Singing lessons.
