Annual Events

Throughout the year at JBCCS we have a number of well-loved annual events.

These include:

• Grandparents Day: On this day Grandparents visit the school and are spend the morning interacting with students. The day usually has a theme such as ‘The Books We Read’. Activities are structured around this theme. Students have the opportunity to ‘dress-up’ in theme. The morning concludes with a presentation by the students and a morning tea.

• Swimming Carnival: Our carnival takes place at the Bay & Basin Leisure Centre. Students participate in a range of swimming races and novelty events. This event has a real sense of school community that is enhanced by the facilities.

• Athletics Carnival: JBCCS has traditionally partnered with other schools for our Athletics Carnival. The larger number of students provides tougher competition and excitement and the cross-school interaction is a great way to develop social interaction between students.

• Cross Country Carnival: This takes place at the beginning of Term 2. We are blessed to have beautifully scenic surrounds for our Cross Country. Whether it is on the beach or in the bush, the children love to challenge themselves.

• Annual Sports: At our annual sports events students are grouped into 3 houses that compete for the title of Event Champions. Individual students are awarded with place ribbons and those that excel have the opportunity to compete at Zone and State levels of competition.

• Spring Concert: This event runs in late term 3. It is an opportunity for students who are learning instruments and other talents to perform in front of an audience. It is exciting for staff, parents and students to see these talents develop. It is always an entertaining event.

• Presentation Night: This is when parents, relatives, staff and friends come together to recognise the wide range of achievements of our students. Each Year the night has a theme that ties it all together. The student’s presentations are not to be missed.
These events are always enjoyable for staff, students, parents, grandparents and friends who are welcome and invited to join in on these days.
